The booklet brings a detailed description of the research and conservation-restoration of wall paintings in the Bajamonti-Dešković Palace in Split. The rich programme of the three salons on the first floor, their luxurious execution and the complexity of compositions are unparalleled in the 19th century painting in Dalmatia, making the palace a monument of exceptional cultural and historic value.
Years of neglect and a serious damage caused by an unconscientious owner made conservation-restoration intervention necessary. This complex task was carried out by Croatian Conservation Institute's experts from the Section for Wall Painting, Stucco and Mosaics in Split.
