Conference „The most important procedures in preservation and state enhancement of historical textiles”
Conference „The most important procedures in preservation and state enhancement of historical textiles” will be held in the Museum Mimara in Zagreb, Croatia from 24 to 26 November 2008. Conference is organized by the Croatian Conservation Institute (Hrvatski restauratorski zavod) with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia.
Subjects of the conference are procedures in textile conservation with reference to procedures which can cause further damages if performed badly. Therefore four main topics of the conference are:
- preventive conservation of historical textiles,
- cleaning historical textiles,
- displaying historical textiles,
- new materials and methods.
Morning sessions are open for public (free attendance) and will be held in small multimedia room in the Museum Mimara, Rooseveltov trg 5, Zagreb.
Demonstrations of procedures and use of materials will be held in the Textile Department of the Croatian Conservation Institute, Ilica 44/II, Zagreb and are open for 15 participants - textile conservators.
Formal languages of the conference are Croatian and English.
Deadline for applications for participation in the conference is October 31 2008.
