Dubrovnik, Sponza Palace, May 2012
Croatian Conservation Institute conservators-restorers returned the historic Sponza Palace door to its original place, after nearly two years of conservation work. Comprehensive research, consolidation, inner structure and outer layer rehabilitation, made this tourist symbol ready to welcome new visitors to the Dubrovnik State Archive’s Palace for the next decades, or even centuries.
Croatian Conservation Institute thus continues its long-standing commitment to the protection of Dubrovnik’s cultural heritage. Conservation-restoration work was presented in an exhibition opened at the Sponza Palace on May 4th 2012. The work was entirely financed by the Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities.
