Italian title: ... del Navegar Pitoresco. Dipinti del Seicento veneziano in Istria restaurati presso l'Istituto croato di restauro
The brochure was featured with the exhibition of restored paintings of the 17th-century Venetian painters in Istria. The exhibition presented paintings which have been largely overlooked and unknown to experts, such as works of Palma il Giovane, A. Triva, P. Negri, J. Kerckhovea and L. Dorigny. They bear witness to the vibrant and complex art scene of the Venetian Seicento, marked by influences of Titian, Tintoretto and Veronese, alongside numerous “outsiders” – painters from other Italian and European centres who were drawn to the great tradition and artistic vigour of La Serenissima. Conservation-restoration work on the paintings was carried out between 1995 and 2002 in the Croatian Conservation Institute.
