The booklet gives a short overview of the decades of conservation-restoration work and research of the complex of St. Mary’s Benedictine Convent in Zadar. The wall paintings on the first floor deserve special attention as they are an exceptional monument of Romanesque art, which was discovered during the bell tower's rehabilitation, after the Second World War. The last phase of wall painting’s restoration was carried out by the Croatian Conservation Institute from 2000 to 2005. It included research and documentation, conservation treatments of the wall paintings and the preserved historic plasters and presentations of both the architecture and the wall paintings.
