The second course on the conservation and restoration of paper included presentations and practical exercises related to the chemical composition of paper, the history of paper manufacturing, the causes of paper damage, as well as the surface cleaning, washing, bleaching and dubbing of paper. Participants also used paper to make protective boxes for storing artworks. In addition to this, a demonstration on how to use a machine for mechanical restoration donated by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation was given.
There were 18 participants from the Croatian Conservation Institute, the State Archives in Dubrovnik, Zagreb, Pazin and Split, from the Croatian National and University Library in Zagreb and the Dubrovnik Museums.
